I’m the author of 11 books including my newest one, An Agatha, Raymond, Sherlock and Me Mystery: Murder at the Zoo, plus The Senior Sleuths and Dying to Be Beautiful Mystery Series and The Gourmet Gangster: Mysteries and Menus (Menus by her son Jory Rosen). I am also author of The Woman’s Business Therapist and award winning My Memoir Workbook and have given memoir writing presentations and classes for close to 20 years. My memoir, My Gangster Father and Me, will be published in May 2024.
Our history and experiences can define us, inspire our actions and as writers impact our words and stories. Mine most definitely has. My father was a gangster. Really!
This is my story about my relationship with my father and how his profession affected me and my life, “He called me Sugar Plum. Both a blessing and a burden, I learned interesting lessons from my father: about generosity and determination, taking risks, and certainly finding the willingness to live life as an adventure.”
I’ve presented numerous programs and published articles on topics that are of interest to writers including: “Encouraging the Writer Within You,” “About Being a Writer,” “Published…Now What?” “Writing Mysteries…Not A Mystery,” “Memoir-Life Writing,” ”Writing From Your Soul,” and “Podcast and Zoom Author Marketing.” I have also been an advisor to many authors who have written fiction, non-fiction, poetry and children’s books.
Many articles on these topics have been published on mystery reader blogs and in newsletters and magazines. My newest articles include, Location, Location, Location: Murders Have Their Places, Hearing Voices of Past Famous Detectives: Their Impact and Influences and Writing Mysteries with Animal: With Caution.
My background includes hosting two radio shows, head of public relations for the ABC affiliate in New Mexico and I served on numerous non-profit boards. And, I’m a member of Sisters In Crime Los Angeles and Albuquerque, Central Coast Writer’s, Public Safety Writer’s Association, Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers and speaker at Malice Domestic Writer’s Conference.
For 25 years, I was owner of a successful national marketing and public relations agency in New York City and Albuquerque and received awards for our work with numerous non-profit organizations.
I am a member of Sisters in Crime National and New Mexico (Croak & Dagger), Southwest Writers, New Mexico Book Association, Women Writing the West, Public Safety Writer’s Association, Women’s National book Association and National Association of Independent Writers and Editors—for which I am also a board member. www.MarciaRosen.com
